Ethical Journey
We love natural fabrics! And hark back to when children dressed in un-fussy natural fabric clothing that was passed down and worn again and the simple style of women’s designs.
Our ethos is not to make fast fashion but to be mindful and considerate of the world we live in, minimising on the mounds of clothing that goes to landfill. And in our own small way make a difference and bring back a slower pace of life.
The majority of our products are handmade made from natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, viscose, and wool. Where we do use synthetics we try to minimise, and are always looking for natural alternatives.
We buy local and work with local people where ever possible to cut down on fuel consumption and to add to our local economy.
We are working towards make our packaging plastic free. We have changed to paper carriers at our event fairs and use natural card garment swing tickets held with cotton string.
Our products are mostly dispatched in natural packaging We try to minimise waste by re-using paper and card and donating all our fabric off-cuts and waste haberdashery to our local schools.
Clara is a family run business and we like to think that as a family we are respectful of our environment, our customers and each other. We make beautiful products in a responsible way and we hope you will love them.
As a family living in Cornwall we often join in with the local beach clean where my lovely granddaughters learn about the harm plastic does to our oceans. When we do our food shop we try and buy unwrapped products and refills and we are keen recyclers. My daughter who is expecting her second baby is busy making plastic free reusable baby nappies, baby wipes and cotton make up remover pads.
Yes we are small fish in a big pond but it takes each of us to make a difference for all of us!
Wishing you all the best Alison and the gang.
